Road Trip

Valentine's Day weekend I headed to West Virginia
for a weekend with three of my aunties!
It was a lovely time!
Our weekend jaunt included some great meals,
fantastic shopping, quilting, knitting and even a horseback ride!
Stop back and I'll share the details during the next few days.
Happy Hobbies!

15 Years...

It is our 15th Anniversary here at the HobbyHouse.
I think I have the best husband in the world and
am ever thankful for the wonderful life and love we share!
My mother painted this lovely Bride's Box for me as a bridal shower gift and it is one of my favorite treasures. It has a home on my dresser and is filled with wedding goodies... invitations, RSVP cards, the guest book, the bride and groom cake topper, my garter, and the wedding announcement from the newspaper. The box sides are lettered with
"When two fond hearts as one unite, the yoke is easy, the burden light."
I think we live it!
Happy New Year & Happy Hobbies!

A quick note to say...

Merry Christmas!
I'm just filled with things to blog about
but my time is limited due to LIFE!
My last official day of work is December 23rd.
I'm working hard to get everything caught up so my
replacement can step right in for a smooth transition.
My Little Miss is battling 2 ear infections.
My Little Mr. is in a school performance.
There are still some Christmas things to accomplish!
I'll be back after Christmas filled with New Year cheer!
In the meantime:
May God bless you and keep you safe,
and fill your season with comfort and joy!
Merry Christmas!

Hello there...

I'm here, really I am...
It does seem to me like I've been away for such an extended time.
Things here at the hobby house have been... shall we say, "infected." We have had a mutant germ lurking for the last bit knocking each of us down in our own special way. I'll spare you the details, but know there was a general sense of misery and antibiotics have become our new best friends! My aunt kindly delivered a Thanksgiving meal to us and we so appreciated the privilege of eating in our jammies and following the meal with naps.
I have been busy knitting the last few days... A girl must be doing something as Christmas is fast approaching! I have also spent some of my time shopping online in order to avoid the crowds. LL Bean, Etsy, Barnes & Noble, and Life is Good are my current sites of choice.
I'll set you up with some knitting pictures soon!

He had a wonderful day, but let me tell you...
MY EMOTIONS GOT THE BETTER OF ME!
Enough said!

Happy Birthday...

to our big 6 year-old boy!
Mr. Six!
We decorated his room last night while he slept.
(We do the birthday presents on birthday morning.)
The little people both came in to our room about 6:30 and the the little man opened his present from his sister first.

"Yay! A Wall-E!"

"Thank you, Thank you! You're the best sister!"

Mr. Six received a portable radio, a bike computer & a sleeping bag from Mommy & Daddy!

We had whole wheat pancakes for breakfast and now there is some serious play going on.

We will head out to the movies late this afternoon ... Wall-E here we come!

We will celebrate the happy 6 year-old with the families over the long weekend!

Happy Hobbies!

Some Hobby but mostly Mommy...

I realized how slow I've been on the hobbying end of this blog lately... Oh so weak! My original goal was to blog eat least 3 times per week and, well, any of you who are reading on a regular basis have seen the decline in the number of posts. I'm sure you've also noticed the decline in hobby material and the increase in the mommy stuff. Adding the 15-20 hours of professional work really cuts into the creative time. Thankfully I like the job or I'd be in a scary bad state of mind. A few more weeks of work and then I'll be off until mid-August. Ahhh the creativity & productivity will return... I hope!
Let me give you some of the latest mommy...
Saturday was a gorgeous day and the whole family was able to get out and enjoy it. There was happy play and some yard work-- mulching, weeding, etc. Bike riding on the driveway, examination of the herb garden, inspection of the hedges, arborvitae and rhododendron planted last year. Little Mr. I'm Five requested a hot dog dinner picnic on the deck. HobbyHubby headed right to the store for the supplies which also included chips and dip, something we don't indulge on all that often.
Sunday we sent the boys to church and Little Miss Finally Four and I headed south to see my parents. My mom is doing so much better, still weak, but better none the less!
Yesterday I took the little people Claytopia (the local paint your own pottery place) ans we made some birthday gifts for my parents. It was great fun and the little people just thought it was the best thing ever.
Today we went for ice cream at the Dairy Queen and then headed to check out the local beach which has recently been redone. A bit of time on the playground rounded out the trip. Such a treat!
Now for some of the hobby...
Any of you seen the new Artful Blogging? Simple Sparrow is featured in this issue as well as Whip Up. How wonderful for these bloggers! Artful Blogging is a really lovely magazine. Inside each issue you'll find beautiful pictures, well written posts & articles, and even the paper used is fine. It is a bit expensive, but you'll find very few advertisements and if you like blogs, this has only the best inside!
I've been knitting a bit on my latest Lucy Bag, started sometime in March. I've also been working on lining up so many new sewing projects that I can't seem to get any sewing done! YIKES! I took a trip to the JoAnn's for some notions the other day. Yes, notions I might need for things I might want to make some time when I might not want to go to the store! What an addiction these hobby life brings...
