Books and Paper

The kind and generous Clair at Books and Paper sent be this little giftie to me last week as I was the winner of her 100th post give away .
It was wrapped in a sweet little draw string bag and I'm afraid my picture doesn't capture the magnitude of its cuteness! It is a lovely journal!
Skip on over to her 100th post to see it unwrapped!
Thanks so much Clair!
I enjoy reading your blog!

Wool Love....

A new gal pal and I headed to Ohio Saturday to hit this Woolfest!
I've been itching to spin some yarn for a few months!
Lucky me! I purchased the above wool roving and drop spindle!
I tried to spin without instruction later that same evening and had a good laugh because I couldn't quite figure it out!
I guess I'll be needing a formal lesson!
Hopefully I'll show you my attempts soon!
What are you trying new?

cranky...spoiled...guilty....me...

"CRANKY"

because I'm putting in more hours at my job than I anticipated.

When I say "more hours" I'm pathetically speaking about a VERY limited number.

The "more" in this case refers to more than "zero" hours!

Which brings me to the

"SPOILED"

because I'm working so few hours and mostly from home.

I mean, seriously, does it get much better than that?

Thus, leading to

"GUILTY"

Who really complains when they have it so good?

"ME"

At least I can be honest with myself!

(this is my work)

I just have to push through a few more appointments in the office and complete the paperwork to go with the files and then I should really be able to play in July!

The mail came!

Other bloggers are chatting about Artisan Bread in Five Minutes a Day: The Discovery That Revolutionizes Home Baking and I Love Dirt so I ordered both last week!
They were here when we came home today! Thank you Mr. Mailman!
I let you know how the bread goes and the outdoor activities!
Check them out when you get a chance!
The rest of our day was... well... pretty domestic!
Grocery shopping at various locations, stocked up on meat for the freezer, had to wrap and label all that meat for the freezer, clean up that mess...
Hey-- I didn't do any hobbying! Ouch!
What did you do today?

Cozy

I started this Cozy about a week and a half ago.

I have finally veered away from the Noro and Cascade to try something new...

After some much needed direction from the local yarn shop, I am using Debbie Bliss Alpaca Silk.

Oh so lovely to knit with on my happy turbos. JOY!
I'm new to the lace pattern thing, but am really enjoying it...
In fact, I'm already thinking about the next one I want to knit!
(Remember how I got obsessed with the felted bags? I think I made 6 of those.)
I need to get caught up on the quilt along.
Maybe I'll sew tonight?
Maybe not!
Let you know tomorrow!

Gardening & Mud Pies

Oh the joy I feel digging in the dirt and making things pretty outside!

Last year all of the work in the herb bed really paid off as I have not had to put in the hours this year, but have beautiful herbs to look at! The lemon balm is taking over!

The thyme and oregano have exploded!

We put the garden in a few weeks ago. The little people wanted to plant corn and carrots from seed. We did it and we'll see how it turns out! I also put in tomato plants and red peppers!

Yesterday we planted all of the pots for the deck! Above are all flowers of different varieties... zinnias, asters, marigolds from seed, Gerber daisies, begonias & lavender.
Above are cherry tomatoes and 3 varieties of basil!
We planted lettuce seeds in the galvanized container to the right and the three little white pots have cucumber plants. I'm going the trellis route on those. Today we added impatiens to the last empty pot.

Here is the blueberry bush that HobbyHubby planted in early spring. It has only 5 blueberries!

And at last, we have two of my favorite little people making mud pies along with a variety of other dirty treats!!

Tagged!

I've been tagged by My Little Stitching Corner. Here you go!

Let me see... 6 unspectacular things about me....

  1. I love to bake cookies.
  2. I'm currently listening to WICKED, the Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West on my IPod- I'm about 10 hours into it and I love it.
  3. My husband and I were married on New Year's Eve in 1993.
  4. I lived in North Carolina for 6 years and Illinois for 2 before coming back home to Pennsylvania where I have been back for 6 years.
  5. I have gone the same vacation spot for 20 years (not consecutive as there was a gap of 15 years between trips 16 and 17).
  6. I have been told that I am an "annoyingly" happy person!

Okay so those weren't really quirks, but I tried!

Home again!

We're back! Our road trip was wonderful! My little people were great travelers-- an 8 & 1/2 hour trip over to Mass. and we stopped 3 times on the way there Monday and only twice on the way home Friday! They are champs! We spent a great few days with my gal pal E. and her happy little family. Can you believe that I forgot to take photos during the whole trip! Crazy me!!

E. & I spent several evenings on finishing some quilt squares that she started back in 2003. We made some great progress! One afternoon i gave her a little tutorial on turning headpins to make earrings.

On Wednesday morning we took all 5 little people to the New England Aquarium in Boston. Wow! What an amazing experience. My little Miss Finally Four was especially impressed as she loves all things- animal!

On Thursday E. & I had a girls night and hit the theater for Sex & the City. So fun! I didn't faithfully follow the HBO series, but have seen many reruns on cable. I thought the movie was fantastic. Quite entertaining! I feel inspired to get some style!

We returned early Friday afternoon and the little people were surprised to find a new play set installed by HobbyHubby while we were away!

To top off a really great trip away and a great surprise for the little people we had a marvelous weekend too! Saturday we all slept in (a bit) and then went to the yarn shop, the mall, the bookstore, out to lunch and then home again. HobbyHubby fixed a great dinner while the kids played on the new set and I sat out with them and knitted on a new project (I'll fill you in on that tomorrow). Sunday my parents came to visit and HobbyHubby grilled a great meal! Then we planted sunflower seeds around the play set and relaxed the rest of the day (more knitting for me). Aaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

Summer is here and I have quite a list of things (hobby and otherwise) I want to accomplish this year. The little people and I made our rainy day list this evening too! It is going to be a great summer! I'll share it all!
