Christmas Catch Up!

I realized today that I neglected to share a few Christmas items I intended for the blog...

This is the wall hanging I made for my parents, although the picture isn't the greatest. The words at the top and bottom say, "Home to me... is love." I used my embroidery machine for that part.

I used one of the Buggy Barn patterns which I'll have to look up when I'm not so lazy! I used some scraps of felt, and fat quarters I've been saving for something special.

Aren't the wonky trees fun?

Let me link you to the gifts we received from Chooky Blue's Secret Santa Swap. Check out our gifts in the second picture of this post. Go check out my kind secret Santa at French Knots.

Auntie B's bag...

A gift finished! In fact, I'm happy to know this is something from my January list!

This is the bag pictured in this post before the felting process.
Still lovin' the felting folks!

Adding the lining to this girl could have taken less time, had I read the zipper directions first and not had the lining already assembled. I tried to wing it. When that didn't work, I ripped the lining back apart, installed the zipper and then resewed it all. There is definitely room for improvement on the zipper but a girl has to start somewhere!

Here is a close up of the zipper with the fun lining fabric!

Old Friend, New Blog

One of my very best friends has finally started a blog!
This StarryNightQuilter and I have laughed together,
cried together, worked together, played together,
& dreamed together.
Although I moved away almost 8 years ago,
we remain close as ever.
As Anne Shirley said, "Good friends are
always together in spirit!"
Take a peek at her blog and give her a warm welcome!

January List

  1. Line Auntie B's bag (little late as it was a Christmas gift)

  2. Catch up on Crazy Mom Quilts' quilt-a-long (I'm about 6 weeks behind)

  3. Knit, felt & line Auntie Z's bag (another Christmas gift)

  4. Buggy Barn Cat quilts (this was on last January's list)

  5. Toy bags for the little people

We'll see what happens!

Considering it is already mid-January!

I finished the scarf!

The other day I posted A BIT TO KNIT.

It featured the lovely Noro yarn the little people gave me for Christmas

and the scarf I started.

After four skeins, I sent it through the hot/cold cycle on
my washing machine twice, blocked it, let it dry, and it is now
a lovely felted texture. I dig the felting process.

Addiction might be a better description of my fondness for felting!

Pay it forward....

I signed up for this over at Hip Mama Crafts in December and am just getting around to posting! Come on! Jump in and join the fun!
"Here's how it goes: I will send a handmade gift to the first 3 people who leave a comment on my blog requesting to join this Pay It Forward exchange. I don’t know what that gift will be yet and you may not receive it tomorrow or next week, but you will receive it. The only thing you have to do in return is pay it forward by making the same promise on your blog. So, if you're one of the first 3 people to comment, copy and paste the above paragraph on your blog and share the crafty love! I do need to be able to get a hold of you somehow. If I can't get you for some reason I will choose the next person. You need to post here and then Post this Exchange on your blog and I will contact you."

A Bit to Knit!

The little people purchased some very happy kureyon Noro for me for Christmas.
So sweet to have them think of having their Daddy take them to the yarn store!

Little Miss Finally Four also picked out some rockin size 13 needles, which look incredibly HUGE to me! Little Mr. I'm Five picked out a knitting counter, mostly because it is green and frog-like.

Very exciting to receive the knitting goodies!

I put myself to work and have been working on a scarf for ME.
The big needles are quick and happy!
I'm toying with the idea of felting this scarf, at least a bit.
Guess I better test that out first!
I'll let you know how that goes!

Christmas Gifts for the Little People

I made Pointy Kitty (now named Flower)
and HobbyHubby cut out and stuffed SpaceBoy (named just SpaceBoy).
Both were finished Christmas Eve afternoon!
Way to cut it close!

We let the little people open just these two gifts on Christmas Eve!

The reaction they gave was a gift in itself!

These two creatures will be loved!

Both patterns are from Wee Wonderfuls!
